PATENTING PROCEDURE

We handle national applications for inventions, utility models and industrial designs in Kazakhstan, including PCT national phase entry (31 months from the priority date), from filing to grant.

Required documents

Applicant’s name and address; inventors’ or designers’ names and addresses
Description, claims, abstract and drawings (for industrial designs – images of the product)
For PCT national phase entry – the PCT application number
Power of attorney – a colour scan of the signed power of attorney is sufficient, the original is not required (we will send you a draft)
Copy of the priority application, if Convention priority is claimed
Translation into Russian or Kazakh – we can arrange it

Timeline

Time to grant:
• utility model – 4–5 months from the filing date
• industrial design – 10–12 months from the filing date
• invention – 12–18 months from the filing date
Patent term:
• utility model – up to 8 years from the filing date, including extensions
• industrial design – up to 25 years from the filing date, including extensions
• invention – 20 years from the filing date
